Ezra gets told of intermixing of the "Holy seed" with that of heathen seed. The Jewish line was to be kept pure as the line would support Christ's birth. It was not his sin, yet he was struck with sadness and grief. He held a meeting of the people to confess their sins for them and sacrifice to receive atonement for these sins. Ezra recognizes that we do not deserve the Mercy and Grace that God gives us. He loves us so much that He provided a new avenue from the times of Ezra for repentance and for entry into His kingdom. We must repent for our sins as Ezra does here. Seeking the Mercy and Grace for which we need so dearly. Lord, help us to look to you, always.
