Romans 4: A simple lesson at the beginning of today’s verse - “ For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for Righteousness.” Belief and Repentance is all we truly need to be part of God’s kingdom. We cannot earn our way into heaven. No amount of good deeds will take us there. Grace has us saved. Grace from God leads to Faith in Him and His Son. Faith in The Son of God is what removes our sins from our souls and grants us eternal life. Belief! Paul wrote this letter somewhat to the Jews to counteract their assumed superiority over the Gentiles. He crushes circumcision as not being critical to salvation in the opening 12 chapters. I am going to extend the lesson beyond that. There are no special guidelines are rules on who is accepted into God’s kingdom. There is only 1 rule. Faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Do think yourself better than others or above them or reject others because of their “social standing”. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we are to treat each other that way. Get over yourself and be the lowest among all. We are only men and men have no power except in His name. If not for Faith, we would have to live by the law. But the law has been satisfied by Christ. Therefore we do not need the Law, we only need our Faith and our belief in Him. Paul uses Abraham’s battle with and overcoming of doubt into Faith as a great example for us. God makes all things possible as long as we believe. There is no greater joy in this world than the joy of Faith and knowing that His Grace has filled your soul. Be filled with Belief and enjoy the Grace of our Lord.
