Jeremiah has recognized all the things that the Lord is doing to destroy and crush and curse Israel. The lesson here is painful, yet one we must heed. The same rules from then still apply to us today. We receive blessings from God when we follow Him and His teachings. When we deviate, these blessings lessen. We are fortunate to have Christ to repent to, unlike Israel in the Old Testament. Even as we sin, we can seek forgiveness and Grace and Mercy. Jesus Christ is the only reason we are saved from sin. That does not mean we should actively continue in sin. We should try to lesson our sin, and to be more like Jesus. The Holy Spirit through Jeremiah gives such a positive spin relative to the first part of this chapter in verses 21-38. It is encouraging and speaks to our struggle and how we should proceed. The Lord gives us our struggles to help us to learn and grow and mature in Him. He gives us this from a place a love, unlike man which makes others struggle for their own selfish success. I will be writing some of these verses down to help me seek Him. Jeremiah sough vengeance for the destruction to Judah, but he asked God to do it. This is not what I would expect of a prophet, yet God looks upon him and his heart finding it pure. With a pure heart, God is able to exercise the result and punish those who do not follow Him or have obedience to His Word. As we learned from the lamenting at the beginning of this chapter, God does not reward those who do not follow Him. Like for like is the request of Jeremiah
