It is hard to read the struggles and pain that Jeremiah and Israel faced. 'Tis what happens when we turn away from the Lord completely. Verse 2 and its meaning jumped out at me. "The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter." Are we all not the sons of Zion? And as we are, how does the Zion look upon us? Are we fine gold as Judah one was, or are we earthen pitchers made to throw away? These questions we must ask ourselves in our pursuit of Christ. IF we don't consider how God feels about us, how do we know where we stand? Christ forgives all, yet it is deep within our heart that determines whether or not Christ is with us. Is there a room for Jesus in your heart? Build that room to avoid the destruction like Judah received
