This whole verse is a metaphor for what the Lord did with Israel. He plucked a vine out of Egypt and made that vine grow tremendously! Yet he took from that vine after the vine found bad soil. He cut it down and made it weak. Asaph, the author, asks for growth again from the damaged vine (Israel). As He restored the vine in the past, do it again, he pleads with the Lord. But most importantly he asks for "Turn us again, O Lord God of Hosts, cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved". How true this is of our own lives. For us to truly be saved we have to make the Lord our God's face shine! Bring Him Glory and Praise for the Mercy and Grace we receive in His name. Lift up your lots and and your sins for Him to direct you. Do not be alone but be with Him always.
