This chapter is full of references to Revelation (or the other way around). Often times the same enemies come forth in the Bible to attack or harass Israel. The Devil will use any and all of the resources at his disposal to change the fate of the people of God. We must be cautious when the Devil disguises himself as the Lord and whispers instruction in our ears. Our ONLY reprieve from this is the ability to listen for the Lord in prayer. The only way to reach His true desires are through study of His word and prayer. Be patient and persistent with this practice. Like everything else good in this world, the one who waits receives the larger gift.
Asaph asks the Lord to strike down the conspirators and have God show dominance over nature and man. This overdone example would be the perfect scare tactic to keep this from happening again. In Asaph's mid that is. The Lord knows better than to unleash all His power for any one thing, until the 2nd coming of Jesus. Asaph believes that with all of this, the enemies will see this as a sign and look to God and feel shame and die. I understand the idea here, but the Lord often shows His power in different ways than utter dominance. We must remember this ourselves and see what things the Lord has given to show us today. Find the beauty of God in the everyday and grow to appreciate what He hath given us. Fall in love with His love!
