Again David is our author. He prays for protection from the evils of the people who chase him. David speaks of their reasoning, they have none outside of evil and disdain for David himself. Before Jesus sacrificed himself for all of us, we had justification to be cast down with our own personal piles of sin. Yet, the Lord saved us from our transgressions. The Grace of God is forever. In Verse 5 David asks the Lord to "be not merciful to any wicked transgressions. Selah." I don't believe the Lord has any problem with punishing the wicked. But it must be done in God's way. Whatever He deems the answer will be the answer. Even if we are not accepting of that answer, we must accept it. For the Lord knows all. Verse 9 is a great way to proclaim Him in our lives. "Because of his strength will I wait upon You; For God is my defence." David was weak against his enemies. Yet he looked to the Lord for his strength and to protect Him. We must follow this example. Verse 12 mentions these men and another flaw. Pride. Pride is a great destroyer of our bond and trust in God. On our own we are nothing but men. but with Christ, we are men of God. The "of God" is so important as we are not of this world but of Him! Verse 17 is a joy we should all give to our Creator. "unto you, O my strength, will I sing; for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy."
