This chapter opens with some heat. We are to wait on God for from Him comes my salvation. Verse 2 is so powerful for me. "He only is My Rock and My Salvation; He is My Defense; I shall not be greatly moved." God only is our Rock and our Salvation. When we use Him as our defense against this world, we arise victorious over sin. With God at the forefront of our lives, we can stay still and be with Him. It is hard to be moved when you stand on God's rock. However, if we leave the proximity to God, we are destined to fail. As we move away from God, we rely on ourselves more. Men cannot support the needs of men. Only God can do this. Being self-righteous will only get you so far and that will be without God. The self-righteous lie to themselves and those around them to get what they want. Do not have expectations of other men. The only expectation should be on God to perform everyday miracles.
Verse 2 is repeated as Verse 6. Tell me again how that is not important?
The Holy Spirit continues to blast us through Psalms with the wisdom that God is our Salvation, our Rock, our Glory, our Strength, our Refuge, etc. This is done on purpose because we continuously need to hear it. Men are weak and need the spiritual guidance. So we are given it, if we know where to look. Remember sin is temporary. Jesus will carry that sin for us. Do not be burdened by our mistakes and shortcomings, for they will ever be there. But ask for forgiveness and the burden of sin will no longer be upon. The Mercy and Grace of God lifts us all up.
