Happy Advent season!
Verse 2 cries out for the living God. Does your soul long for the courts of the Lord? Do you long to someday be with God in His home and be saved by all that He hath provided? The sparrow and the shallow finds homes and nests that are temporary. Man is the same! All of our homes here are only temporary, our true home belongs with the Lord! Receiving God's blessings is no small feat, we must have Him in our heart. Having the ways of men in your heart warrants nothing from the Lord. In our journey with the Lord, we are called to do many things. Yet, as long as He is in our heart and we are spiritually fulfilled by Him, the "Valley of Baca" (the valley of weeping), will not be full of tears, but of rain. The full belief in the Lord will allow us to move from "strength to strength" in our journey to find our home in the Lord. Without God in our hearts, our own strength would run out and we would fall short. But, through the Lord our journey continues.
Verses 9 - 12 speak to the audience with God we are all guaranteed. But not just the Lord our God, but His Son Jesus Christ our mediator. 1 single day in the courts of judgement are 1000 times better than any day on this earth. If just an audience with Him is so tremendous, just imagine what heaven must truly be like. The Lord will hold nothing back from those who truly believe in Him. "No good thing will be withheld from them who walk uprightly." Keep in mind, the "good thing" we are blessed with is not for us to decide. What He desires to "give" us is what we shall be given and we should be eternally grateful for these gifts. Even if we are disappointed in them. Do not have shame or sorrow over anything from the Lord. If we place our trust fully in Him, we will always be blessed.
