Our author here asks for vengeance. But not his own, he asks for His vengeance. The wicked are those that deserve His vengeance. For they deter good and welcome in evil. Yet they boast and proclaim selfishly as above others. God is above all our author here is asking for God to do His duty and clean the Earth of the unholy pestilence among us. They blaspheme His name and do without regard for punishment. This is true all too often. Their sin knows no bounds.
Verse 9 speaks to God as the creator of all. How can He who made the ear not hear? How can He who designed the eye not see? How foolish of those who are wicked and sin openly without shame. The thoughts of man are vanity and good no standing. The Word of the Lord is above all else. He continues to supersede man and will forever.
Verse 14 reminds us that God keeps His promises. He will spare Israel and renew them to glory’s never seen on this Earth. Verse 16 tells us again that ONLY God through Christ can save us from the dilemma of sin and the constant wickedness we are surrounded by.
Verses 18 and 19 are inspiration in our journey in Christ. “When my foot slips, Your Mercy, O Lord, holds me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” The Lord is always there to catch us when we fall off the path. There is no greater safeguard than Christ. Through God’s Mercy He gave His son so we can be saved. These thoughts of sacrifice and forgiveness should delight all of our souls. We are protected from Hell through the Grace our God gives us. How uplifting! Give Him praise!
