This is a Psalm of David and per his usual, he begins the chapter with praise for God with music and with song. But not just a simple song, David awakens the harp and lyre to awaken the dawn. He is going to praise God so loudly and openly that everyone will hear! We are called to do the same and sing His praises loudly for all to hear.
In verse 4 David reassures us that His steadfast love is great and His faithfulness reaches to the clouds. This means that the love and faithfulness of God has no limit. Why would we want to limit God’s influence in our lives when He is the creator of all of our world and the compassion, love, and mercy from God knows no bounds. Lord allow us to allow you into our lives moar so that your influence and guidance trumps all else.
Verses 7-13 have a distinct conquerors tone. But the Lord is the conqueror. David is only the vessel that does the Lord’s bidding. David is aware of this and states this fact in verse 13. “It is He who will tread down our foes.” What foes do we face that need the Lord’s help to conquer? The answer is simple. The foe we face is sin. And through Jesus Christ we are able to claim victory over sin and live forever with the Lord. Confess you sins and your weakness humbly to the Lord and be forgiven through HIs mercy and grace.
