“A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahitre” - hey look it’s me! (Totally kidding just having some fun this am).
This chapter begins in a wonderful way and starts to convey the message we all need to hear daily!
He sings of the Lord’s “great love forever” and speaks on sharing the Word and the Good news with all the generations of the world. God’s love reigns forever. Ethan speaks to the promise God made to David regarding how the throne will live forever through all generations. This reminds us that God will always be here and in control. God keeps His promises and one day we will enjoy His Glory.
Even amongst the angels, God stands apart. His power and grace and mercy are like nothing we can comprehend. Give praise and thanks for the things He blesses us with.
“Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of your throne”…. My goodness how much we as men fall short forever and always. The throne is only within reach because of Christ.
Our author is in peril! His enemies “rejoice” as they plunder him. He believes God has turned back the edge of the sword on him. He pleads with the Lord, “where is your former great love”?
Yet he does not dismay. He asks for nothing directly but you can infer that He is asking the Lord to come back into his life. He has been mocked and taunted and wants to help him tried this strain. We all face this strain in some fashion. Let us be like Ethan (our author) and not directly ask God for anything besides His guidance and His presence in our lives.
