Jesus gives His first lesson to His disciples (not necessarily only the 12). These are the Beatitudes. They can be their own recap on their own as there is so much to tear apart. The Holy Spirit was busy with Matthew when He wrote this. Blessed are the poor in spirit, Blessed are they who mourn, Blessed are the meek, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after Righteousness, Blessed are the merciful, Blessed are the pure in heart, Blessed are the peacemakers, Blessed are they which are persecuted for Righteousness's sake, and Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. That is the summary of them but the deep dive has so much more. For those that are poor in spirit of Man we are rich in the spirit of God and therefore closer to Him and His kingdom. We mourn for ourselves and our sinful nature as we have moved past it to secure ourselves in His Word and His comfort. Those of God are meek and not self-righteous. Our thirst and hunger for Christ will be filled but first to have this hunger and thirst we must be empty of ourselves. We must first show mercy to receive that mercy from Christ. Christ's Salvation gives us the peace to know we are saved. A peacemaker shares the peace given by Christ's sacrifice. We will be persecuted for our beliefs and for Him in spite of His mercy the devil will tempt us. Rejoice for the Kingdom belongs you those who do these things for Christ. BE OF GOD, NOT OF THE WORLD!
We as believers are Christ's light here on Earth. We reflect the light shone off by Christ and share it with the world. Is your light bright enough to share? Do you cover up your light depending on who you are with? Light is made to shine always and forever, never cover it up. The proper faith in Christ will allow that light to grow and produce works of good fruit and glorify God.
Jesus came to fulfill the Old Law (The Law of Moses), not to destroy it. The Old law is still and will forever be the standard to get into the kingdom of heaven. However, because of Christ, we have a second way in. All but Jesus have to go the 2nd way, for we cannot complete the Old Law. It is impossible for a man, that is not Christ, not to sin. Now that we have Christ we are saved and allowed to join the Kingdom. Without repenting our sins, we are as bad as the non-believers and the pharisees.
Rest easy and come not to anger. Calm your heart and allow Christ in. For evil is knocking on the doorstep every minute of every day that God is not there. Keep the Word in our hearts and keep the evil out to subdue our anger and frustration. This anger builds unto a fury and the fury will eventually become murderous. Crush this anger at its base and cast it out into the sea. Be free of these feelings and allow the Holy Spirit to overtake our emotions.
Keep the bonds strong with our brothers and sisters. The bond with Christ is unfilled if our brothers and sisters are not contented with us as well. God will see to it that we have corrected the bonds of men amongst us. He will fulfill this promise of pain and suffering via His judgement. But if we forgive and are forgiven for our mistakes by our brothers, then we are free to be blessed and saved. Treat our fellow men and women as equals and enjoy the presence of Christ amongst our gatherings. Oft our body betrays us, so cut off the sinful parts. Cut out the eye who sees a woman and lusts after her. Cut off the right hand for the same reason and save yourself in spite of the sinful members. When we do this, we have not given our heart fully to the Lord. There are pieces that are still controlled by ourselves. our very weak selves.
Our standard for communication is so much higher than the world currently uses. Do not swear by anything for it the weakness of us to swear by God, His creation, or anything else. It is wrong to push this direction and have the damage done. The pain of the swear is deep. We must stand our for our truthfulness, honesty, and integrity. Do not reward evil with evil. Turn the other cheek. Do not demand equal treatment for the Lord knows what we have earned in our time here on this earth. Go the extra mile with our fellow man because sometimes the 1st mile just is not enough. Hatred from man is to be met by LOVE! Those that despise you and wish you ill should only receive our love and prayers. We are to treat everyone equal, just as Christ does. Only those with the true Love of God can love those that do not love them. If our love only extends to those it should extend to, how little does that mean? Our love must cast a wider net than this. It must be different from the world, then it can be of God!
The Holy Spirit is our ticket to mastering and using all of these things. Open your heart and allow the Holy Trinity in. Talk with Them always and our guidance will be given from more powerufl places than we understand.
