The parable of the 10 virgins shows the need of us to trust in Christ and carry the Holy Spirit with us wherever we go. Half of the virgins filled the lamps (their souls) with oil (The Holy Spirit). How indicative of the modern world is this? So many of us believe we believe in Christ, but we do not live His message and His directive. This is being a false believer and we all fall prey to this weakness. However, do not ask others for more of the Spirit, ask yourself to get rid of the self righteousness than inhibits the work of God in our lives. Allow Him to work freely and oil will never run out. The bridegroom will come to virgins in the night and only those with the light shining from their lamps will be able to receive their groom. We are the virgins and without our light shining (for Him), He will never find us.
Christ's call for us to minister for Him is strong and pushy. The parable of the talents reflects this. The servant given 5 talents (monies), produces 5 more talents. The servant with 2 talents also doubles his talents. The servant with one talent buries his. The Lord was pleased with the first 2 servants and they both receive the same reward. Opening the gates of heaven to "enter into the joy of your Lord." - Verse 21. The servant who buried his talent is not given the same treatment. He is cast down and called wicked and slothful! His lack of faith is not rewarded where in contrary the strength of the faith of the first 2 servants is rewarded well! We are to be like the first 2 servants and have a strong faith and a momentous heart with His desires at the forefront. Each with our own ministry, we will be rewarded with faith and faith alone. Trust in the Lord and take His instructions seriously.
In the great tribulation we are called to care for Israel above the other nations. For she is the weakest and the most in need of our help. This is true of Israel always. We are to help her. It is a direct request from the Lord, hidden in His parables. Be a sheep in His kingdom and have not horns for the goats will be cast to unrelenting fires and gnashing of teeth. Give to others what we have in excess of. The famous verse from this chapter is verse 40: "Verily, I say unto you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto me." Given the context of this verse, it is more powerful now than the sermons I've listened to regarding it. Christ demands we care for His and His people always. For when we help His people we in turn help Him!
