When man was to give a meat offering, it would not have to be "meat". The instructions here are very clear. The offering is fine pure flour with oil in many forms, but only these ingredients. All other variations of the offering were to be the same ingredients, be it baked, fried, or prepared in any way. Then it shall be pieced up and burnt on the Altar. The flour with oil is a symbolism of the Christ to come. Jesus was pure and clean just as the flour. He was anointed with oil, just as the flour is. He was sacrifice on the alter, the Cross, just as the flour oil combination was. This symbolism comes from the time of Moses. How could the Word be so clear so far into the future. The only way is because of God. He is amazing and will be forever. The salt we read about in verse 12 & 13 symbolize the forever standing of Christ and His sacrifice. Salt preserves the offering to last longer. Thereby the salt does the job of the lengthening of the covenant. As every man in the Old Testament brought forth His sacrifice unto the alter, Christ was brought unto the alter as well. Our sacrifices to Him, whatever they may be, pale in comparison to the Almighty God. There is weakness abound in man and our sacrifices today shall build our strength. Rely on Christ, the ultimate sacrifice, to take our weakness and transform it to strength in His name. We cannot rely on man and succeed. What will you sacrifice today that should be burnt on the Altar? What things can we give up this Easter season to build our faith and recognize the role that God plays in our lives? God help us to be aware of where and what you do for us everyday. Raise us up with Him and help us all to see the light from the Altar of the Cross.
