Jesus says that divorce is not necessary unless the other party in the divorce has committed adultery. This is the only sin worth undoing a marriage for. Divorce is not the Will of God. If both man and woman live by the Word of God, there should never be a reason to be separated. Yet, so many of the marriages that happen today are done in the absence of God. Without God in our lives and in our marriage we rely on ourselves or something else from man instead of relying of God. Trust in Him to keep us whole. We are all called to marry and populate the world in His name.
The disciples rebuked some children coming to Jesus via their mothers. “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come into me: for such is the Kingdom of Heaven”. - Verse 14. These mothers wanted their children blessed and saved after hearing the divorce answer knowing how wise the answer was. Jesus of course made an example of these children especially when the disciples rebuked them. We are to be like the children and come to Christ with our hearts open to Him and in full reliance on Him.
If we believe ourselves to be perfect, we are mistaken. Man always falls short of following the Old Law. The only perfect is Christ. Any imagination of perfection is just that, our imagination. Omit the appearance that we are perfect. Admit our errors and our faults own up to our shortcomings. Are we ready to sell our possessions and follow Christ?
If we are rich of this earth, it will be difficult for a man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. As the camel goes through the eye of a needle, as likely is a rich to go to Heaven. However, with God, all things are possible. The gifts of God keep coming as our belief grants us limitless blessings.
As hard as it will be for us to sell our things and follow Christ, the rewards in the Kingdom of Heaven are much beyond anything we have here on Earth. The sacrifices we make in the name of God will be repaid a hundredfold. It is no easier for a poor man to sell his wares than a rich man. Both face the same task and face the same struggle in Christ’s instructions.
This will be hard to pull off but we must pray for guidance from the Lord to help us know how He desires us to move forward. We are pulled in so many directions and often struggle to make time for God. Allow us to make moar time for Him. God grants us clear instructions like you gave to the children and to the disciples. Allow us to open our ears and our eyes to what the Lord needs from us.
