Bible Verse Synopsis 4-11-25
Leviticus 25:
Instructions are given to harvest and prune your orchards and gardens for 6 years continuously. But in the 7th year, the land is to rest and not be taken of or cared for by man. It is a year of rest on the land. How foreign this is to us, for anyone to fully rest is unlikely. Our life is full of distractions and noise that pull us away from our purpose. The only way to truly find God is through this rest. It is the safe place we reside when we cannot deal with this world any longer. Reach out for this restful place moar often. Peace will be upon you.
The Year of Jubilee did much for Israel. It was on the 15th year. 2 Sabbath years is 14 years. This Jubilee (Joy) would also be a Sabbath year. The vineyards could be harvested but not pruned and trimmed. Whatever nature provided you were allowed to eat. It is also gave back all possessions sold to the previous owner. Land, horses, cattle, etc. and if freed all prisoners. Everything was judged in Israel in relation to the year of Jubilee. The longer until the Jubilee the more expensive. The reason for the return of lands and goods was that the Land of Israel was not theirs. It is God’s land. Be grants them access to it. That is it. Israel lives at the grace of God. Now the territory Israel and God should possess is bastardized by Muslims and terrorists. The HOLY LAND is so called because it is God’s.
I cannot help but think of how different the world would look today if this Law rang true and was held. How variant would the world be. How cheerful on the return of their belongings would the poor be. The Lord would always provide equality. We are all sinners in His eyes. The only question He has of us is if we keep Him in our hearts or not. What inhabits your heart? Greed, Lust, Hate, & Anger? Or Love, Grace, & Mercy?
The last 2 topics discussed in this chapter are the enslavement of Gentiles and Israelites. Gentle enslavement not the rough and tumble of the what Israel encountered in Egypt. Respect was to be given and returned to any man or woman bought by another. Israelites couldn’t enslave they own people. But could be bought as slaves by Gentiles, if they desired. The year of Jubilee influenced the cost of the slavery.
The Jubilee would create so much trust in Him. The kind of trust we should give to Him. Where are our weak spots in the trust of God. Give Him your baggage. Our backs are not meant to carry it.
