On the Day of Atonement (once a year), Aaron was aloud to go into the Holy of Holies, inside the Veil. Any other occurrence of this would mean his death. A reminder that 2 sons of Aaron (Priests) died attempting to not follow the Word of God. That strange fire was their death. Stay with God in the things that are His, do not bring forth manly things. Aaron had to make a sin and a burnt offering for himself so that he was pure enough to go beyond the veil, for that is where God resided. Once he was cleaned of his sin via the sacrifice, He could do the same for Israel. Just one small variation. There were to be 2 lambs, 1 was the sin offering. The other was to be set free after the ceremony to symbolize our sins set free from our souls and for that weight to no longer be ours. Christ was all of these things for us. He was Aaron, the lambs, and the rams. We must sacrifice the man inside us, to come out the other side pure and clean for the Lord and fully believe in Him to give the power of Christ the freedom to work in our lives.
The rituals in this chapter maintained until Jerusalem was crushed in AD 70. Aaron, Moses, and God together passed down this ritual to be committed by all the High Priests to follow. This ritual died with Israel as the temple was destroyed as well. The New Temple cannot be destroyed, for it was not made by man. It is of God and by God. Remember the grace and glory of God and allow Him access to our lives. Engage with Him and listen for His directive. One day He will speak to you like He spoke to Moses.
