The first 26 verses of the chapter trace the lineage of the Levites back to the days of David. This helps to keep all the lineage of Christ as the Messiah in tact. With no king, the High Priests job was to follow genealogies.
If you have noticed much has been done over the priests and the levites in Nehemiah. The priests and levites in these days were at the center of the Faith. The focus on them is how we should be focused on the center of our faith. It also shows for these men represent the closest we can get to Him. They represent the sacrifices made and were the teachers of the law. How important would that be back then? How important is it today? We must remember where we learn and how we learn it. The forces that influence us are important.
The Levites and priests and men gathered at the walls and blessed them is a parade of 2 groups that encircled the city along the walls. They gave great sacrifices and found untold joy. Their connection to God here must have been strong. When we find joy is His works, we find joy like never before. The joy spoken of here is part of our reward for serving Him.
The temple officers were restored and the tithes were offered to where the Lord had commanded. This brought forth songs of praise and thanksgiving. Honoring God with song continued to be a level of praise most do not reach. Sing loud for your God and allow your believe in Him to shine outwardly to the rest of the world. With the light shining for Him, we can show the world our King.
