This chapter gives instruction for the feasts of God.
Passover is the 14th day of the 1st month between the evenings. From the sunset of the 14th to the sunset of the 15th.
On the 15th of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. You will eat this for 7 days. And on the 7th day no work shall be done. Also you will sacrifice the bread unto Me every day as an Offering. This was to test and try the men of Israel. Their faith must be strong to only eat bread for a week! Trust in the Lord goes a long way.
A sheaf of the first fruits of every harvest were to be given to the Lord. When you bring the sheaf you shall offer a lamb without blemish and 2/10 of fine flour mingled with oil - the cakes were to be an offering by fire. Drink wine with this sacrifice. The first fruits signify the most Holy of the harvest. These belong to God and also represent the resurrection of Christ. As does the offering attached to those first fruits. For Israel the offering was vital to them. We are blessed that we don’t have to do this. It could be a struggle for us to maintain our Faith. This is a gift from God and we should be gracious that our forgiveness is based on our belief and nothing else.
The Pentecost was 50 days later and was potentially the most important or powerful. This was the time the Holy Spirit came down unto the people. The offerings were large and were justification of the community at large. These gifts were to dim the evil and anoint the Lord and His message over the sin nature of man. By following the instructions here Israel would be redeemed. What of God’s instructions for us have we been ignoring?
The Feast of Trumpets will be in the 1st day of the 7th month and be a memorial to the duty of the church. The Church Age will one day be over and the trumpets will blow to signify this in time.
The day of atonement was the 10th day of the 7th month. This was the day the High Priest atoned for the sins of himself and all of Israel at the Holy of Holies and the Mercy Seat. It was the time that all would be atoned for. With the burnt offering and the sin offering and all the other instructions Israel would honor God and be relieved of its load of sin. Our load of sin is no less repent as Israel did. Honor God and lift up the Spirit. Proclaim your faults and repent in the Name of Jesus. This is our instruction from God.
The final feast is the calendar was the feast of tabernacles. And ran for 7 days after Pentecost. 2 sabbaths are included in the this feast and more offerings and atonement’s are made for Israel.
This proclamation of structure is important to understanding the role of God in the lives of Israel. He was to be there everything and have guidance for every step. He is to do the same for us. But we have to allow it to happen. Step aside of our own selfish desires and allow God in.
