Mixed peoples that weren’t not of Israel led to some misfortune. The Priests began to trust these people and give them roles of importance. Even as high as connecting their quarters to the Temple. These non Jews should not have been there unless they had converted to be Jews. This is corruption of the Faith and against the Law of God in the Old Covenant and as well as the New. Do not allow corruption into our lives and especially not into our time with God. Be with Him always to keep our exposure to corruption at bay.
Nehemiah caught word of this and relieved himself from his duty to the king. He came to Jerusalem and cast out the Ammonites things from the chamber. This is how we are to behave with the corruption that surrounds us. Cast it out and remove every trace of it. Then we proceed with purity in His name as Nehemiah did. With sacrifices and back to the Covenant. In our case the cross. Nehemiah also restored order to the Temple and the processes that kept the Temple in order. He found faithful men he could trust and gave them say over the correct distribution of the tithes. He did not seek any comfort or praise from man, he sought it only from God. We are called to do the same. His glory is for Him and if we are to partake, then our works must be in His name, not in our own or the name of man. Do not have so much pride that we fall short of God’s plan for us. Leave the pride with the corruption we already left behind.
Our leadership helps guide our own behaviors. With broken leadership, the people will be broken. This is much of the reason for the failure in Judea. Our leadership fails us daily in the world today. True leadership should be from the scripture and the Lord. Not granted by other men.
