Paul continues his theme here. Moses pitches a Tabernacle that was more earthly, Jesus and God have a Holy Tabernacle. The Holy Tabernacle takes precedence over the earthly Tabernacle in every facet. Moses did nothing wrong. Yet, God knew that the way of Moses would not last and Christ and the New Covenant would take the place of the Old Law. The Old Law is not worthless, it is full of many lessons and prophesies which are important to explaining God’s power and influence. He is in control. This we must submit to and always remember.
The Priests in the Old Law were to aid in the sacrificial practices of the Old Law. As Christ is the ultimate High Priest, He must also bring a sacrifice to aid the people. His sacrifice was Himself. Jesus was not a Priest on Earth, as he was not of Aaron or Levi. Yet, He is a true Priest for us and completes the need of a priest in the church. He is that person!! Recognize the High Priest and submit to His order knowing that things in Heaven are so above those of this Earth.
Paul continues down his path, calling the New Covenant “… a more excellent ministry…. Which was established on better Promises.” - Verse 6. The Old Law could not wash away our sins and the New Covenant can. Without the New Covenant, there would be no eternal life. The New Covenant is critical to the saving of the entire world without it only the Jews would be saved and God would not leave his whole creation to burn without a shot at redemption.
The shortcomings of the Old Testament are more than taken up by the New Covenant. Christ’s pure and Holy blood 🩸 is the ticket to our salvation. Accept this is our hearts and the Spirit will work in us as the Lord has instructed. Writing His name and His laws on our hearts. It is our job to accept the Spirit and let me work within us.
