We are back to Paul and his intensity of writing with so much inside the words he chooses. In the 1st 3 verses Paul recounts the fact that Jesus is God’s son and the heir to the World that He created. Proclaiming that the world was created by God announces His deity over the world as its one and only creator. The Word came now from Christ instead of from the prophets of the Old Testament. Christ purged our sins from the world with His sacrifice on the Cross upholding the promises in the Old Testament. Now Christ, risen from the dead, has dominion over all as He sits on the right hand of the Father, His Majesty. Think of yourself opening a letter and this is how it starts!! The purpose and care of each word has tremendous meaning if we read below the surface. This is how we gain understanding of the Word.
Jesus is greater than the angels through the inheritance He received upon His resurrection. The Lord sent angels upon Jesus to worship Him upon His birth. Why would God send His angels to worship another if it was not of Him? Only God deserves our worship and because Christ is His son, He is an extension of God. He will never age nor weaken as the King maintains what is His. As the creation gets old and so does our planet, we shall wither away. Yet Christ remains strong and always will. Another sign of Jesus’s superiority over angels is His place NEXT to God. All else stands before Him.
Angels only attend to the ones who put their faith in Christ and the Cross. Is there an angel with you?
