The promise of Salvation is available to all, but it can be lost if we lose track of where our faith should rest. Jesus Christ and the Cross is where our faith belongs. This is the key to salvation. Praise Him and His name and have fear of the alternative. Without the right level of fear, we will no give the respect needed to God and His commands of us as Christians. We can give more to Him than we do and often we can misconstrue His directive for us. With fear we can rebuke ourselves and our selfish nature and let God take over and show us the way, His way.
In Verse 3, Paul proclaims that the plan of Jesus was in motion before the creation. “..although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.” How amazing is God that he knows how we will fall short. That does not mean we should not make an effort to be more like Him. The rewards of our efforts will be in His kingdom.
If we are to be working for Him we must cease to work for ourselves. Do not twist these words into the wrong meaning. The Lord wants our work to be to glorify Him, not to glorify ourselves. What things can we change in our lives that shows us working for God? The Word itself will energize us into action for Him if we accept it. Be encouraged and pushed to achieve for His Glory not for your own.
Knowing that Christ was man and God, we know that He faced the same struggles and temptations we do. He overcame these struggles with the help of the Lord. Do you remember how much time the Gospels tell us of Christ in prayer? In contrast, how often are we with Him? Where does our weakness come from? Our weakness is not from God our weakness is from the devil. The Lord and his mercy and that his grace be upon you just as Christ did we can do the same.
