Isaiah has a vision of what the Lord will bring forth. Verse 2 says: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.” When the Lord comes down onto us, in all His Glory, He will plant His house and it shall be taller and greater than any mountain or hill. The whole world will flock to His House. He will teach from Zion to all the people. Verse 4 says: “And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nations shall not lift up the sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” Man will no longer have any power. The Lord will decide all of our disputes and arguments. There will be no more need of weapons and fighting, for He will decide all. Are you prepared to allow Him to decide for you today and forever?
Isaiah calls Judah what it truly has become in Verses 6 through 9. Judah has made partnerships with heathen nations, imported gold and silver and horses and chariots, worship idols of their own hands. All ranks of society have fallen prey to the weakness of the flesh when they were told by God that they were the chosen people! Instead of shining His light for the world to see, they fell victim to the flesh. Do we also fall victim to the flesh? Do we worship the things we have done with our own hands above the Lord? Or give Him the credit He so rightly deserves?
Isaiah opens the next set of Verses with a powerful statement in Verse 10: “Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of His majesty.” His address is to Israel and the forsaken of the Lord. When He comes they have need to hide to humble themselves and return to Him; recognizing their faults and shortcomings. Do you also need to hide in the rock and the dust when the Lord comes? Isaiah continues his message telling us that every man who is proud and lofty shall be brought low. Every nation that unites against Israel in the end times of our world as we know it will be struck down and bow down before the Lord. The line “and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.” Is repeated twice in this group of Verses 11 and 17. This separates out and emphasizes this point. The LORD is above all. Do we submit to Him and His power?
Verse 21 says: “To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the jagged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake terribly the Earth.” He will shatter the idols and cast them down . When the Lord comes it will shake our earth and be the most obvious event in mankind’s history. We have relied on ourselves and the weakness we exhibit needs to be flushed from our souls. By casting out the idols we have made, He will make it obvious that He is the only one we can rely on. Can we fast-forward this in ourselves and be more prepared for His arrival?
