Isaiah 4: This is a very short chapter, yet the Holy Spirit through Isaiah is busy. Verse 1 references the Great Tribulation, when the corruption of Israel reaches its height. Verse 2 says: “In that day shall the Branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the Earth shall be excellent and comely for them who are escaped Israel.” The Branch of the Lord is Jesus. He will come down in beauty and in glory. The small remnant of Israel that escapes from Jerusalem will be the same remnant that has faith in God. Are we part of this remnant or stuck in the suffering as the rest of the world is?
Israel will be returned to its state as holy after they accept the Risen Lord as their Savior. He will wash away their sins and “the filth of the daughters of Zion” (Verse 4). The Holy Spirit will be hard at work turning the whole of Jerusalem back to Christ and the Father. Will the Spirit have to work on you still, as It does Jerusalem? Or are you ready for Jesus?
Verse 5 says: “And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.” The Lord will create these things over Mount Zion to show that the Lord is present with us. What do you do when the Lord is with you? Can you feel Him beside you now?
Verse 6 says: “And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place for refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” Jesus provides us all with this now and forever. He is the shadow that protects us from the bright temptations of sin. He is the refuge from our pain and suffering. And He is the covert from the winds and rains of this world. With Him we can anchor any ship and stay upon dry land. Are you prepared for Christ to do these things for you? Is your Faith prepared to allow Jesus and the Father to have control?
